Wendy Williams Says She's Living In A Sober House

Wendy Williams is living in a sober house.

The “Wendy Williams Show” host made the revelation on her show on Tuesday.

“I have been living in a sober house,” she told the audience through tears. “… You know I’ve had a struggle with cocaine in my past. I never went to a place to get the treatment … there are people in your family, it might be you … I want you to know more of the story.”

Williams explained that she returns to the sober facility after work and personal activities.

“After I go to the Pilates and go to several meetings all around town in the tri-state area, I see my brothers and sisters caught up in their addiction and looking for help,” she continued. “They don’t know I’m Wendy. They don’t care I’m Wendy. It’s the brothers and sisters caught up in the struggle. It’s been really interesting, this ride.”

The morning show host said only her husband, Kevin Hunter, knew what she was doing.

“Only Kevin knows about this. Not my parents, nobody. Nobody knew because I look so glamorous out here,” she shared. “After I finish my appointments … I am driven by my 24-hour sober coach back to a home that I live in the tri-state with a bunch of smelly boys who have become my family. … We talk and read and talk and read and then I get bored with them. Doors locked by 10 p.m., lights out by 10 p.m., so I go to my room and stare at the ceiling and fall asleep to come here and see you. So that is my truth.”

The news comes after Williams, 54, took a two-month hiatus from her show, which she previously said was to treat her Graves’ disease. While she was out, guest hosts including Nick Cannon and Jerry O’Connell filled in for her. Williams ultimately returned to her eponymous show in early March.

Upon her return, she addressed rampant rumors surrounding the health of her marriage, saying, “I’m still very much in love with my husband. Don’t ask me about mine.”

Pointing to her wedding ring, Williams added, “It ain’t going anywhere. Not in this lifetime.”

Of her time off, Williams said, “We’re spending time as a family — the Hunters. And I just wanted to take some time for myself … I am my own best friend.”

The next day, she revisited her dark past with drugs before announcing that she and her family had launched a substance abuse hotline to help people struggling with addiction get the assistance they need.
