Lady Gaga performed her song "Speechless" last night for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II of England - and the singer likely left her Royal Highness and everyone in the audience in exactly that state.
The "Paparazzi" singer wore a red latex version of an Elizabethan-era gown - that would be Queen Elizabeth I - with a dramatic neck ruffle and pouf sleeves, and made her entrance sporting a 20-foot train, according to a report by the U.K.'s Daily Mail.
She was then hoisted 30 feet into the air, where she played a piano with legs borrowed from surrealist painter Salvador Dali's "The Temptation of St. Anthony," the Mail said.
Gaga appeared at the Royal Variety Performance, an annual gala attended by senior members of the British royal family. The first one, held in 1912, was called the Royal Command Performance. This year's edition was held in Blackpool, a tourist city on England's western coast.
Other performers in this year's event were a hot-pants clad Miley Cyrus, and Alexandra Burke, winner of British reality TV singing competition "The X Factor," as well as Bette Midler, Brit pop singer Mika, and Canadian crooner Michael Buble.
Lady Gaga wrote "Speechless" to persuade her father, who helped her beat a cocaine addiction, to have heart surgery. He was in attendance last night to see his daughter perform for the Queen and her husband, Prince Philip,
After the show, the Lady and the Queen shook hands, with Gaga's costume nod to the current monarch's 16th century predecessor making for a memorable tableau.
