The best moment of the American Music Awards may have been in a commercial.
Rapper Waka Flocka Flame blew up social media with a delightfully goofy ad for Pine Bros. cough drops, a brand that drew similar buzz earlier this year for an ad featuring Martha Stewart.
Set to a score of soothing piano music, the ad featured the rapper sitting on a couch next to a vertical blast of steam or smoke.
"What does a Wacka Flocka Flame do for minor sore throat relief?" the 28-year-old Queens-born rapper asks.
"This here," he says, holding up three packages of the flavored lozenges before going on to praise its ingredients, "plant glycerin" and "imported gum acacia."
Many viewers got a kick out of the ad's final shot, which had the rapper shooting a knowing glance at the pillar of smoke next to him.
"So next time you need sore throat relief — for whatever reason — take your Pine Bros.," he says.
The ad was an immediate hit on social media and prompted the quirky little cough drop brand to trend on Twitter.
"That @WakaFlockabsm commercial had me laughing so hard I need some #pinebrothers softish cough drops now," one viewer tweeted.
Pine Bros., officially Pine Brothers Softish Throat Drops, caught viewers' off guard during the Golden Globes in January with a hilariously downbeat spot featuring Martha Stewart.
