Vybz Kartel has been ordered to pay $15 million to a promoter as a fine for failing to show up on a scheduled concert in 2009.
The event took place at the Turks and Caicos Islands in August 2009 where Jamaican star was supposed to attend, but did not.
The Supreme Court has ordered the troubled star to pay to the promoter Alton Salmon a total of $15 million for breach of contract.
The promoter said in a statement that Kartel’s failure to appear on the concert provoked a riot among the crowd which resulted in a big loss for his company.
However, to make up the loss, Salmon was awarded $127,736 excluding the $15 million pending from Vybz Kartel. The star, however, is in custody on two murder charges. The court granted a bail for $3 million, but it is still not confirmed whether he’ll be released from the jail or not.
