VP Kamala Harris Walks Out To Beyoncé’s ‘Freedom’ For First Presidential Campaign Speech Since Biden Dropped Out

The Vice President used Beyoncé‘s 2016 Lemonade hit, “Freedom,” during her first presidential campaign appearance in Delaware on Monday (Jul 22). And yes, Bey gave her permission to use it. Harris walked out to the song, sparking speculations that Bey’s approval could also mean she backs her as the 47th President of the United States. Although Bey, herself, has not come out and fully endorsed Harris just yet, her mother, Tina Knowles, has over the weekend. Bey has been a supporter of the Democratic party in the past, supporting both Barack and Michelle Obama, and Hilary Clinton. In 2013, the music icon sang the national anthem during Obama’s second-term inauguration, and advocated for Hilary Clinton in 2016 against Donald Trump. After an unforgettable entrance, the 59-year-old gave a 20-minute speech where she asked citizens: “What kind of country do we want to live in: A country of freedom, compassion, and rule of law, or a country of chaos, fear, and hate? the former Attorney General and courtroom prosecutor not only praised Biden for his hard work over the last four years, but also slammed Trump for his criminal history. “I took on perpetrators of all kinds: Predators who abused women, fraudsters who ripped off consumers, cheaters who broke the rules for their own game,” she said. “So hear me when I say I know Donald Trump’s type. And in this campaign, I will proudly put my record against his. VP Harris hasn’t been announced as the official replacement of Biden just yet, but she’s already received a record $50,000,000 in donations in one day. Since then, her funding has skyrocketed to more than $80,000,000. VP Harris took to X/Twitter to announce that she has secured enough delegates to, to become the official Democratic nominee. She issued a statement calling attention to “two different clear visions” between herself and Trump. “Tonight, I am proud to have secured the broad support needed to become our party’s nominee,” she announced. “I look forward to formally accepting the nomination soon. Over the next few months, I’ll be traveling across the country talking to Americans about everything on the line. I fully intend to unite our party and our nation, and defeat Donald Trump.
