In a press release the company unveiled an exclusive edition of Maybach’s S 680 sedan designed by the late designer The Mercedes-Maybach S-Class design features a two-tone color scheme, luxurious fashion accessories, the Mercedes-Maybach and Virgil Abloh logos, and more. The limited-edition Maybach is Abloh’s third piece of work with the luxury car brand. The first was Project Geländewagen, and the second was the monolithic Project Maybach electric show car The latter project was under Abloh and his brand Off White's partnership to continue innovating the future of Mercedes, which was established prior to his passing. According to the press release, only 150 units of the car, which was designed in partnership with Mercedes-Benz Group AG Chief Design Officer Gorden Wagener in 2021, will be available later this year. “I’m incredibly proud of the work we created in collaboration with Virgil,” Wagener said in a statement. “From Project Geländewagen, which set the benchmark for fashion/automotive collaborations with our iconic G-Class, to Project MAYBACH which brought the distinguished Mercedes-Maybach heritage into the future, together with Virgil we truly broke new ground. The limited-edition Maybach by Virgil Abloh exemplifies the symbiosis between innovative design and ultimate craftsmanship now available on the road.”For Abloh and Mercedes fans who aren’t interested in the car, Mercedes-Benz and Off-White have also launched a clothing line inspired by the collaboration. The apparel includes a co-branded hoodie, a matching canvas cap, a half-brushed cotton fleece sweatshirt, and gloves. The Off-White Capsule Collection launches on April 5 and is available online at Off-White, Farfetch, Maybach Icons of Luxury online stores, as well as will be on sale at select Off-White™ stores.
