Video: Runaway Shopping Cart Kills A Chinese Woman

A stunning video shows the moment a Chinese woman was killed by a runaway shopping cart.
The horrifying accident happened Friday morning as a 60-year-old woman shopped at a Shanghai supermarket, The Straits Times reports.

Closed-circuit recordings show the woman as she came to the bottom of a modified escalator meant to allow shoppers to transport carts between floors. As she finishes her descent, a second cart flies onto the screen and down the incline. She’s blindsided by the fast-moving cart, reportedly weighed down by 330 pounds of drinks, and sent sprawling 20 feet into a pillar.

Stunned shoppers, including the man who lost control of the cart, run towards the woman, unsure of what exactly just happened. One man begins wildly throwing the goods that end up piled on the woman, hoping to help her.

The woman was sent to the hospital but died from her injuries.
