VIDEO: COP PUNCHES A WOMAN IN THE FACE

Shocking cell phone footage appearing to show a uniformed cop punching a woman in the face has been posted online.

Police in Elizabeth, N.J. are probing the 20-second clip filmed during a brawl outside the Envy Night Club.

It shows the officer going to arrest a man, but then smashing his fist into the face of a woman who tries to intervene.

The exact circumstances behind the punch are not clear.
But Elizabeth police told NBC New York it was questioning a cop attached to their department.

He has not been named, and is still on active duty, it added.
