Victor Willis, the founding leading singer of the Village People. Willis died Tuesday at age 74. Willis, the writer of “YMCA,” “Macho Man,” and “In the Navy,” was confirmed dead in a post on Facebook. “We are profoundly sad to announce the death of Victor Willis, lead singer of Village People. Victor passed on Monday June 30, 2026 of a short but aggressive illness. Privacy is requested,” the post reads.
