The judge in Venus Williams’ wrongful death lawsuit has issued an order allowing the family of Jerome Barson, who died in a car crash involving the tennis star last summer, to subpoena Williams’ phone records.
The subpoenaed records could reveal if Williams was distracted talking on the phone or texting at the time of the crash, which her reps have denied.
Williams’ lawyers have insisted she was not distracted and was not at fault in the crash, and that she entered an intersection on a green light — but had to stop to avoid hitting a turning Nissan Altima — when her SUV was hit by Barson’s car, which had a green light.
It has been previously reported that the Barson estate was seeking to examine Venus’ smartphone records, but this is the first time the judge has permitted the party to subpoena them, “Page Six TV” revealed.
