Usher is pleading with a judge to seal his private medical records as part of the lawsuit filed by two women and a man accusing him of giving them herpes.
According to court documents obtained by The Blast, the singer went to court to request that certain records be sealed from the public. Usher says he needs to file exhibits to his motion seeking to compel one of the women suing him to hand over certain information.
He not only wants his records hidden from the public but also wants the woman’s records sealed too. He says the exhibits include previous and current private health diagnoses.
He writes, “There is no gray area that allows for the revelation of some of Jane Doe's personal information without compromising her privacy rights. Any public exposure of her private information could result in significant harm to Jane Doe.”
Last year, a woman named Quantasia Sharpton – along with a Jane Doe and John Doe – sued the singer claiming they all had sexual relations with Usher. They all say he risked their health by not telling him about his alleged diagnosis and are seeking unspecified damages.
John Doe claimed he had sex with Usher at a Koreatown spa in Los Angeles.
During the case, the male accuser had accused Usher of refusing to turn over private medical records in the case.
He even filed a motion to compel demanding the singer be ordered to turn over his confidential medical records and any possible settlements with other people.
Doe said Usher has not only refused to turn over documents but tried to invoke attorney-client privilege and physician-patient privilege to not hand over the records.
Usher refused to answer a question about whether he settled claims by former lovers over Herpes. Doe said his refusal was nonsense since it has been, “widely reported that Defendant has settled similar claims throughout the years.”
The singer accused Doe of trying to harass him with the demands and refused to answer his numerous questions.
John Doe would drop his demand for the medical records months later but noted he may bring it back at a later date.
Recently, Usher went to court demanding Jane Doe being sanctioned to the tune of $2,500. He accused her of refusing to answer questions during her June 25 deposition.
During the deposition, Usher clearly grilled her about the allegations he gave her the STD. He asked the judge to order Doe to answer the questions and to sanction her for not giving up the information. During the deposition, Doe’s lawyer repeatedly instructed her client not to answer saying it was an invasion of her privacy.
Doe fired back saying during the deposition Usher and his team tried to mischaracterize her allegations from the lawsuit. She claimed they even asked questions to a “sexual battery plaintiff which were, absent prior Court order beyond the permissible scope of inquiry.”
