Could Tyga’s days as a Young Money member be numbered? The “Rack City” rapper is putting his label on blast.
T-Raww took to Twitter on Friday to reveal that The Golden Album: 18th Dynasty is finished, but it may not see a release anytime soon because Young Money is “holding [him] hostage.” He threatened to leak the project, which was slated for a November 18 release.
The label, which is home to Lil Wayne, Drake, and Nicki Minaj, may soon lose one its own. When one fan asked Tyga if he was still with Young Money, he responded, “not for long.”
Since being signed to the label, Tyga has released two albums including 2012′s Careless World: Rise of the Last King and 2013′s Hotel California. But his allegiance these days is only to his label Last Kings.
Tyga has aired out his grievances with YMCMB in the past. In a 2013 interview with “The Breakfast Club,” he revealed that he has never received a royalty check. “I never got a check from Young Money or Cash Money,” he said. “I’ve always treated my career as independent and everything that I’ve got is because of myself, my own endorsements.”
This is not the first time an artist has had issues with YMCMB. Busta Rhymes left Cash Money earlier this year due to creative differences and Mystikal told Rap-Up TV that he wants out of his contract.
