Two People Shot Blocks Apart After DMX Vigil In Westchester

Two people were shot Wednesday night near the scene of a Westchester vigil honoring the late rapper DMX, a report said.

One of the gunshot victims from near Fourth Street Park in Mount Vernon sought refuge in the back seat of the News 12 vehicle, which was occupied by reporters who had covered the event, according to the outlet.

The shootings happened about an hour after the vigil ended, and blocks apart, according to the News 12 Westchester report.

There were still dozens of people left inside the park when the second shooting occurred, prompting them to flee for safety.

The man who ran into the news vehicle was there for several minutes, bleeding, before first responders arrived, the report said.

It was not immediately clear if the shootings were connected, or if they involved any attendees of the vigil.

According to LoHud, over a thousand people showed up to the event honoring DMX, real name Earl Simmons.

The legendary rapper died Friday after suffering a drug overdose that triggered a heart attack.
