Troy Ave Goes To Court With Bulletproof Vest And A Hat Promoting Crack

Rapper Troy Ave made quite the court appearance Friday — dressed in a floor length fur coat and wearing a bulletproof vest — as prosecutors agreed to allow him to perform again.

Topping his ensemble was a “distressed” blazing red baseball cap with python skin on the bill that bizarrely read “Bake Water Whip Weight Again.”

The hat is listed for sale on his website for $200.

The slogan is a reference to the process of making crack cocaine.

The 31-year-old rapper, whose real name is Roland Collins, was in Manhattan Criminal Court for a hearing on charges that he violated the terms of his bail stemming from an attempted murder arrest for his involvement in a May shooting in the green room at Irving Plaza during a T.I. concert.

The gunfire killed his bodyguard Ronald McPhatter.

Collins has been free on $500,000 bail. He was shot in the leg during the brawl and claims he wrestled the gun away from McPhatter’s killer, then fired back in self-defense.

During Friday’s hearing, Manhattan prosecutors said Collins was caught posting fliers for an upcoming concert in violation of his bail terms, which banned him from performing.

But prosecutors said they agreed to overturn the ban Friday, clearing him to appear at a North Carolina show planned for Feb. 25.

His reps said more tour dates will be announced soon.

“He has a couple of tour dates lined up,” his lawyer John Stella said. “They'll start announcing them as early as (Saturday). He’s got an event in North Carolina that's coming together. He's very happy."

Collins said he was happy with the deal, saying “well-known” music companies have been trying to book him for shows, but he hasn’t been able to sign on.

"I feel blessed, I feel enthusiastic about my shows coming up," he said.

"Now I just get a chance to go be with my kids, get ready for tour, touch my fans. We were waiting for this.”

His mom, Tracey Collins, was also pleased.

"Thank God," she said. "I think they're still treating him like he's a felon on a $5,000 bond and wearing an ankle bracelet. People have done worse and they don't face such restrictions on them."

On Christmas Day, Collins was shot in the head and back on E. 91st St. and Linden Blvd. in East Flatbush as he sat in a red Maserati. That shooting remains unsolved.

His girlfriend, who was also in the car, escaped injury.

On Friday, Collins said he's still affected by the shooting.

"I still get headaches sometimes because there's still a bullet in my head so it'll be throbbing. I got a bullet in my back so it's hard to sleep. My son likes to pretend he's Batman I'm still trying to get through the pain but It's better than being dead."

Cheers rang out when prosecutors disclosed that DNA evidence indicates Collins did not bring the gun used in the shooting into the club that night.

That revelation “does not alleviate criminal responsibility for his actions,” Assistant District Attorney Christine Keenan said.

Keenan said Collins will only be allowed to perform if accompanied by a security guard, and the venues must search him and his fans and supporters. He also has to give his lawyer a week’s notice.

He also has to return to New York City within 24 hours of the event.

"If it's not physically possible for him to be home, he's not expected to be home,” Stella said.

He must still wear an ankle bracelet, but is now allowed to visit his relatives in New Jersey.

Collins seemed to relish the court appearance and media attention, posing for photographers. He had to remove the vest for Friday’s hearing, but then put it back on afterward.

On Thursday, the rapper boasted on Instagram of having 300,000 followers and said he was about to release new music.
