Tribeca Film Festival Will Feature A New Film & Performance From Rapper Nas


The 2014 Tribeca Film festival set the slate Thursday for its 13th annual edition, running April 16 - 27.
The fest's opening night film will be "Time is Illmatic," the Documentary about rapper Nas's 1994 album "Illmatic." It will continue with movies featuring starlets like Scarlett Johansson, Dakota Fanning and Olivia Wilde alongside movies by filmmakers including Roman Polanski, Paul Haggis and Kelly Reichardt.

A few of the highlights include:
"Chef," directed and written by Jon Favreau, about a chef who finds success in a Manhattan food truck after losing his restaurant job. Starring Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Dustin Hoffman and Sofia Vergara; Polanski's adaptation of the New York stage hit "Venus in Fur," starring Matthieu Almaric and Emmanuelle Seigner; "Third Person," directed and written by Oscar-winner Haggis ("Crash"), starring James Franco, Mila Kunis, Liam Neeson, Olivia Wilde and Adrien Brody; this year's Sundance favorite "Love is Strange," about a middle-aged gay couple whose life becomes complicated after their marriage, starring John Lithgow and Alfred Molina; Reichardt's environmental thriller "Night Moves," starring Jesse Eisenberg, Dakota Fanning, and Peter Sarsgaard.

There's also the small-town dramedy "Just Before I Go," the feature directorial debut of "Friends" actress Courteney Cox, starring Seann William and Olivia Thirlby; "Boulevard," directed by Tribeca favorite Dito Montiel ("A Guide to recognizing Your Saints,' "The Son of No One"), about a husband in a marriage of convenience, starring Robin Williams; the missing-child drama "Every Secret Thing," starring Elizabeth Banks, Diane Lane and Dakota Fanning; and Katie Holmes' first post-Tom Cruise divorce movie, "Miss Meadows," about an elementary school teacher who's also a vigilante.

The documentary slate includes the fashion chronicle "Dior and I"; "All About Ann: Governor Richards of the Lone Star State"; "The Other One: The Long, Strange Trip of Bob Weir," about the longtime Grateful Dead guitarist; and "Super Duper Alice Cooper," detailing the life and times of the venerable rocker.

Following the April 16 premiere, Nas will reportedly perform his groundbreaking "Illmatic album in its entirety.
