Travis Scott Announces Astroworld Festival In Houston

Travis Scott isn’t going to let his moment in the spotlight pass him by.

Kylie Jenner’s boyfriend announced on Twitter Friday that he’d be headlining the first-ever Astroworld Festival at NRG Park in Houston on Nov. 17.

“TOLD THE DOGS I’D BRING IT BACK,” the rapper, 26, wrote.

In addition to headlining the one-day event, Scott will help curate the rest of the festival’s lineup.

“Our ultimate goal in launching this Fest is to bring some well-deserved recognition to Travis’ hometown of Houston, the place that has made him both the man and creative artist he is today,” his manager said in a press release (via Billboard). “H-Town has an incredible rich cultural history, and we look forward to showcasing to residents from Travis’ own backyard and across the globe what makes this city so special.”

The festival is named for Scott’s most recent album, “Astroworld,” which itself is named for the closed Six Flags theme park that is located across the street from NRG Park.

The album, which was released last week, has not been without controversy. Scott was accused of transphobia after it came out that Amanda Lepore had been excluded from the final version of the album’s “Night” cover, even though she had originally been part of the photograph.

Sources close to the rapper claimed to TMZ he never even knew Lepore was in the photo since she had been edited out of it by the time photographer David LaChapelle showed it to Scott.
