TRACY MORGAN IS RECOVERING FROM HAVING KIDNEY TRANSPLANT SURGERY!

Funnyman Tracy Morgan got a kidney transplant recently, and his recovery will keep him away from the set of "30 Rock," his representative said Monday.
The operation took place around Dec. 10, Entertainment Weekly said on its Web site.

"Tracy is doing well and taking some much needed time to recover after the surgery," his spokeswoman, Nicole Chabot said. "He is looking forward to going back to work after the holidays."

Morgan, 42, who plays the mercurial Tracy Jordan on the hit NBC show, appeared healthy and in good spirits a week after the surgery when he was spotted watching the Knicks game at Madison Square Garden Friday.

But he will still be a no-show on a couple of episodes to be aired in March, his rep said.

The absence will be explained on the program by saying Morgan's character had some sort of meltdown, according to the EW report.

The actor is the second "30 Rock" cast member to receive a new kidney after Grizzwald "Grizz" Chapman, his hulking sidekick on the show, had one earlier this year.

Morgan was diagnosed with diabetes in 1996 and told Time last year he didn't take the disease seriously at first.

"Then one day I got really sick," he said.

"The doctor was like, 'Hey, listen, we may have to take your foot.' That was it for me. Now I take my insulin every day. My blood sugar doesn't get over 120."

A 120 blood sugar is considered the upper reaches of normal. Out-of-control sugars can lead to heart and kidney failure, blindness, and amputation.
