Crooks burrowed their way into an Orange County, California jewelry shop and carted off a safe with nearly $1 million in jewels, police said.
The bandits - the exact number is uncertain - drilled a hole through a wall into Mission Jewelers in San Juan Capistrano early Wednesday. The robbers then hauled out the safe, which weighed nearly 1,000 pounds, sheriff’s spokesman Jim Amormino told the Los Angeles Times.
"It was very well planned," he said.
Along with the valuable stash, the rogues made off with security equipment from the store.
