The Whitney Houston Documentary Can I Be Me Is Premiering At Tribeca Film Festival

Whitney Houston is getting a high-profile documentary. Whitney. ‘Can I Be Me,’ directed by Nick Broomfield and Rudi Dolezal, will track Houston’s career and sudden death at age 48 (she died from accidental drowning in 2012).

According to Tribeca’s description, the Showtime production will feature rarely seen footage to tell the story of the six-time Grammy winner’s life.

Last May, Broomfield detailed some of his plans for the documentary, and revealed that he had little interest in speaking with Houston’s ex-husband Bobby Brown. “Brown and Whitney were in a kind of dance,” Broomfield told Indiewire. “They were completely destructive because they were in a weird competition.
