The Weeknd released a shot of his upcoming album cover - and the his fans were shocked to see the R&B singer had lopped off his trademark dreadlocked ‘do.
The cover to the new album, "Star Boy," features the 26-year-old Canadian crooner cradling his newly sheered head.
It's a big deal considering that the Weeknd had become almost as well known for his sculpted hair as for hits like "Earned It" and "Can't Feel My Face."
"I want to be remembered as iconic and different," the Weeknd, whose real name is Abel Tesfaye, told Rolling Stone last year.
"So I was like, 'F--k it, I'm gonna let my hair just be what it wants.'"
Little is known about the musical direction of "Star Boy," beyond a tease he dropped in July that it would "feel aggressive and warm."
