THE MTA WANTS TO RAISE PRICES & THEIR DOOR CAN'T EVEN CLOSE!

A YouTube video posted Tuesday shows a Metro-North train speeding toward Manhattan with a car door open and freezing passengers standing perilously close by.
In the nearly three-minute video, commuters who could not appear more blasé yell to each other over the racket of tracks as an unobstructed view of Harlem whizzes by.

One rider standing closest to the open door even jokes about seeing stunned rats staring back at him.

The door apparently failed to close after commuters boarded about 8 a.m. Monday at the 125th St. Station. The door shut on its own as the conductor applied the brakes inside the Park Ave. Tunnel as the train approached Grand Central Terminal.

A passenger next to the door gave it one final push to close it completely.

Metro-North officials were investigating yesterday, but said the frigid 6-degree weather probably caused the door to malfunction.

"The footage in this video is very concerning to us," said Metro-North spokeswoman Marjorie Anders. "A door opening enroute is an extremely unusual occurrence."

Officials said no passenger bothered to alert the conductor until the train reached Grand Central.

"If a passenger notices a door open, they should immediately move away from the door and notify a conductor, who can manually close and lock the door shut," Anders said.

She said the train was immediately taken out of service once the conductor learned of the problem.
