A 1,100-pound bull hopped over a fence and went wild in the stands, trampling spectators Wednesday in Spain.
When the rampage was over, 40 people were injured, including a 10-year-old boy who was sent to intensive care for injuries caused by the bull reportedly falling on him.
The bull had twice tried to enter the 3,500 person crowd before his successful third attempt.
"I saw that the animal had jumped and, after staying stuck on the fence for a few seconds, it came over. Then there was chaos ... There was stomping, pushing, shrieks, blows," one of the injured spectators told the Daily Telegraph.
The bull was killed once it was brought under control.
The incident at the Tafalla arena in the region of Navarra occurred during an event where people goad the bull into charging them, but unlike typical bullfights, the animals are not usually killed.
"The bull caught me and hurled me against the (concrete) seating," Inaki Zunzarren, who suffered bruises, told the Diario de Navarra newspaper. "What an experience!"
