A Texas mother is accused of putting her 2-year-old child in an oven, leaving the toddler with second- and third-degree burns, authorities said.
Deputies responded after receiving a tip that a child had been burned inside a Glen Rose home, NBC station KXAS-TV reports.
A woman at the home — identified as Tasha Hatcher, 35, — told the deputies that she put her baby in the oven, Sheriff Greg Doyle said.
The child was later airlifted to a regional burn center.
Hatcher remains in custody at Somervell County Jail, charged with injury to a child with serious bodily injury. Her bond was set at $300,000.
Authorities are continuing to investigate, and Child Protective Services is involved in the matter.
Glen Rose is located about 75 miles southwest of Dallas.
