Technics has announced a new limited-edition SL-1200 turntable in collaboration with high-end streetwear brand Aimé Leon Dore (ALD). Taking inspiration from the New York brand's signature colour and texture palette, the SL-1200M7ALD turntable is rendered in mulberry green with "bespoke detailing and a co-branded slip mat", according to ALD. It's furnished with all the features of the classic SL-1200, including an S-shaped aluminium tonearm and vibration-dampening platter. "I still buy records today, and I still have Technics turntables in my house, my office, and in our stores," ALD founder and creative director Teddy Santis said in a statement. "Beyond the emotional connection, I'm in love with the object itself." The SL-1200M7ALD will be available to buy today (19th March) from 11am ET / 4pm GMT exclusively at the Aimé Leon Dore site here. There will also be an accompanying capsule collection available from today. Technics upgraded its SL-1200 turntable in 2023, announcing the SL-1200GR2 as part of the brand's "next generation" of direct drive turntables.
