IN THE STREETS & ON THE WEB

R&B artist Tamar Braxton was released from the hospital Tuesday — a week after she withdrew from "Dancing with the Stars" due to blood clots in her lungs.

"I just got out," she told TMZ on Tuesday as she left a CVS pharmacy. "I just dropped off my prescriptions. I'm so excited to be back."

Braxton checked into the hospital last week after powering through Monday's live episode of "Dancing with the Stars," where she was diagnosed with a pulmonary embolism.

The singer had already seen a doctor earlier in the week, but she left to rejoin the show believing she only had pneumonia. She danced alongside Backstreet Boys singer and fellow contestant Nick Carter in her final episode on the show, earning a near perfect score despite her serious ailment.

Despite their impressive performance, Carter told Us Weekly that Braxton was so "unstable" during the dance that he had to hold her up. A day later, the singer revealed her condition was far worse than she originally thought.

"I went back to the hospital (after the doctors didn't want me to leave in the first place) only to find out that I don't have pneumonia, but something way more serious," Braxton wrote on Instagram.

Pulmonary embolisms, which are caused by clots blocking blood flow into the lungs, can lead to organ damage if not treated correctly.

Braxton, who is the younger sister of fellow singer Toni Braxton, appeared to be in good spirits as she spoke to TMZ on Tuesday, even though she said she's not feeling 100% yet.

"No, but I'm out (of) the hospital," she said.
