Rapper and music producer T-Pain is hurting over $30,000 he says his booking agency owes him.
The “Bartender” singer, whose real name is Faheem Rashad Najm, filed a lawsuit Thursday in Manhattan Supreme Court against United Talent Agency.
T-Pain claims a booker signed him up for an Aug. 19, 2017, performance at the Fashion Meets Music Festival in Columbus, Ohio, despite the concert organizer's bad reputation.
The agency “was well aware of the credit unworthiness of and prior defaults of payment obligations by FMM Festival,” the suit says.
T-Pain's performance cost $50,000.
He was paid for part of it but a $35,000 check bounced, his suit says.
The talent agency didn't tell T-Pain, 32, about the bad check until after the performance, the suit says. The organizer of the festival is expected to file for bankruptcy, so T-Pain sued the agency for $27,000 plus interest.
