T.I. And Tiny Harris Ask Court To Force Sex Assault Accuser To Pay Up $96K In Legal Fees

T.I. and his wife, Tameka “Tiny” Harris, are pursuing a court-ordered financial award from Sabrina Peterson, who previously accused them of sexual assault. According to recent court documents Peterson has refused to pay approximately $96,000 in legal fees, prompting the couple to seek judicial intervention. The couple’s lawyer, Andrew Brettler, has argued that Peterson’s noncompliance with a court order has not only squandered judicial resources but also imposed substantial legal costs on T.I. and Tiny. She has willfully violated a court order,” Brettler stated, adding that Peterson’s actions forced his clients to defend themselves against numerous claims, most of which have already been dismissed. The legal troubles between Peterson and the Harris couple began in 2021 when Peterson filed a lawsuit against them. Her initial claims included trade libel, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and intentional and negligent interference with prospective economic advantage. However, several of those claims were dismissed by an appeals court in October 2023. Brettler criticized Peterson and her legal team for what he described as a “kitchen sink” approach to litigation, suggesting that they filed a broad array of accusations hoping to attract media attention and pressure the couple into a settlement. According to Brettler, Peterson and her attorneys never intended to diligently prosecute the case, instead using the legal system as a tool to achieve publicity. Despite the dismissal of most claims, Peterson still retains the right to pursue defamation and false light invasion of privacy allegations. Nonetheless, the current focus is on the court order requiring her to cover the significant legal expenses incurred by T.I. and Tiny in defending themselves against the extensive array of claims. The couple’s legal team is adamant that Peterson’s refusal to comply with the court’s order is both a breach of legal obligations and an abuse of the judicial process. They continue to seek the enforcement of the court’s decision and the recovery of the awarded legal fees.
