Record executive and marketing maven Steve Stoute has teamed with LeBron James and Maverick Carter for an HBO Sports doc, “Student Athlete,” and Stoute told Page Six he thinks college athletes should be paid.
“They are making these schools billions of dollars, and they basically get zero revenue,” he said.
“They get a scholarship, but they don’t get any of the billions that they’re creating . . . I always thought that was unfair. You have these poor kids and their parents can’t even afford to come out and watch them play.”
The film, by directors Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy and Trish Dalton, debuts Tuesday.
James was called “one of the town’s hottest producers” by the Hollywood Reporter.
He’s now prepping for his first season on the Lakers.
