Starting Bid For Eminem’s Childhood Home In Detroit Reportedly Starts At $1

A piece of hip hop history just south of 8 Mile Road is up for auction.

Eminem's childhood home, which is located on Detroit's east side, is being sold through the Michigan Land Bank, according to The Detroit News.

The Michigan Land Bank's website does not list a minimum bid, but the Detroit Free Press reported that it is set at $1.

Fans of the rapper may recognize the 747-square-foot home at 19946 Dresden St. from the cover of 2000's "The Marshall Mathers LP" album. Eminem recently revealed that the now-vacant house will also be the cover art for his upcoming album, "The Marshall Mathers LP 2."

The single-family house was listed as the address of Eminem's mother, Deborah Mathers, from 1989 to 2003, according to public records.

Real estate website Zillow.com shows that the property was sold for $24,650 in 2007. The same site values it at $33,164.

A past owner of the home once listed it on eBay for $500,000, according to The Detroit News, but received no bids.
