A number of packed parties happened in Tampa this weekend as if there was no pandemic.
The mayor of St. Petersburg Rick Kriseman slammed a packed maskless bash featuring 50 Cent saying on Twitter, “This isn’t how we should be celebrating the Super Bowl. It’s not safe or smart. It’s stupid. We’re going to take a very close look at this, and it may end up costing someone a lot more than 50 Cent.”
Mayor Kriseman’s tweet was in response to images of the party showing a large crowd and few masked guests at an airport hanger in St. Petersburg posted on TMZ.
DJ Steve Aoki played a crowded bash at WTR Bar & Grill at The Godfrey hosted by Dave Portnoy and Barstool Sports and Miami-based super club E11EVEN.
Tampa Police told local news Channel 8 the scene there and at other parties, “were incredibly disappointing.”
We’re told guests had to go through high tech machines that scanned for common coronavirus symptoms. “I think they planned as much as possible,” says a source. “Throughout the night DJs were telling people to remember to put on their masks.”
Diplo also hit the TWR’s pool, performing for a massive crowd. Also playing parties this weekend were Migos, Rick Ross, and Tory Lanez.
Elsewhere in Tampa, photos showed the Ybor City neighborhood filled with hundreds of revelers, many with their masks off.
