Spelman College is finally severing ties with Bill Cosby.
The historically black liberal arts women’s college in Atlanta announced Friday it was discontinuing its endowed professorship with the embattled comic after a damning deposition was released of his testimony in a sexual-assault lawsuit.
The William and Camille Olivia Hanks Cosby Endowed Professorship, which was funded by a $20 million gift from the Cosbys in 1987, was suspended in December as the number of women accusing the comic of sexual assault grew — and permanently ended Friday.
Cosby resigned from the Board of Trustees at alma mater Temple University last year.
The recently uncovered 2005 testimony revealed Cosby admitted under oath to buying Quaaludes to dope women in order to have sex with them. Cosby admitted to having sex with former Temple University employee Andrea Constand after claiming he gave her Benadryl to relieve stress, according to the deposition.
Dozens of women have accused “The Cosby Show” star of drugging and sexually assaulting them. Cosby has denied committing any crimes.
