Social Media Wave

Facebook pages, Twitter hashtags, Instagram crazy photo sharing and LinkedIn, follow up have become the order of the day. They have takenstudents, hostage, more than any other group of social media users. Students claim that the desire to socialize, have fun and make new friends is what compels them to give social media websites much attention. Students do not care anymore about help for their academic issues. They are concerned about how many followers they manage to get on Twitter every day or Facebook likes they get on their fan page. It is a social media battle that only the principled student can survive. I usually write my essay first before anything else including accessing social media.
A student wakes up on a phone message thread; it could be from a group chat he left unread in the middle of the night. Social media wave has even influenced students to spend all their nighttime hours online. This has led to additional sleeping during class hours. It is against college academic rules. Students have tried to contain the situation by buying phones that are not internet enabled. They are then dragged back by their friends or when they do not have plans for the weekend. Chats keep them engaged.
