Snoop Dogg announced that a Def Jam kids’ album is on the way. He also explained why he wanted to take on the executive role and his goals moving forward. I was a fan of Def Jam Records as a kid,” he said. “And knowing the talent that they have over there and the opportunity that was waiting on me, I wanted to go over there and give a lot of opportunity to the artists over there to get some information, some wisdom and some guidance from me and then also develop some new acts and give some opportunity.
He continued, “So Def Jam was the perfect place for me, considering how much I love it and how much it means to Hip Hop and how it really needed somebody like me to come and change the energy of the building. I’m over there for one reason: to get the music back poppin’ and to make the people feel like they’re supposed to feel.
Snoop Dogg also announced that his 19th studio album is titled Algorithm and set to arrive in November 2021 featuring “a lot of big-name acts.” The West Coast Legend's last LP, From Tha Streets 2 Tha Suites, was only released in April.
When Snoop Dogg was announced as a Def Jam member he talked about wanting to be part of the label since back in the days of Death Row Records. “They did all types of shit I wanted to be a part of and then Death Row happened,” he said in June. “So, I didn’t get a chance to be on Def Jam, but I always had a dream to be on Def Jam and to be in the place where Hip Hop originated. “So when I got the opportunity, my main focus on Def Jam Records was to go and help the artists, give them love, give them wisdom, guidance and understanding, and teach them some tricks I learned in the game; to diversify their portfolio, to not just be rappers, to not just be artists but to be superstars, superheroes, so to speak.
