SNOOP DOGG IS PROMOTING COLT 45'S NEW FRUITY BEER CALLED BLAST!

Colt 45 is getting a fruity kick that some fear will encourage kids to take a swill of the boozy beverage.
The malt-liquor brand has a new brew called Blast, which contains twice as much alcohol as its parent drink along with fruit flavors like Pomegranate-Blueberry and Raspberry-Watermelon.

Popular rapper Snoop Dogg has agreed to promote the blend. Blast, which hits shelves early next month, joins the ranks of Four Loko, Joose and Tilt - all of which watchdogs say target young adults and underage drinkers.

"We consider this the latest posterchild for supersized alcopops and a binge drinking threat for youth and young adults," said Michael Scippa, a spokesman for the San Francisco-based Marin Insitute. Sen. Charles Schumer (D-NY) is among the politicians pushing the New York State Liquor Authority to ban Four Loko, which contains caffeine.

He argues the drink is dangerous to young people.

Blast, like its competitors, contains 12% alcohol in 23.5 ounce cans and bottles - Colt 45 has 5.61% of it.

The drink comes in four flavors and has colorful labels that resemble bubble-gum wrappers.

Pabst Brewing Company, the owners behind Blast, describes its latest product as "a premium malt beverage with natural fruit flavors and a kick that is uniquely Colt 45."
