The rain went away and the stars came out for Fashion's Night Out.
Pint-size pop star Justin Bieber and "30 Rock" cast member Tracy Morgan were among the boldfaced and the beautiful who mesmerized the fashionable crowds for fall fashion week's annual kickoff event.
Bieber turned the usually sedate Dolce & Gabbana boutique on Madison Ave. into a scene of teen pandemonium when he arrived at the store to sign autographs.
Fans had to pay for the privilege, however. Only those who purchased a pricey D&G garment were able to ascend to the third floor of the boutique where Bieber held court. A run on the store's $195 plain white T-shirts ensued, but after 40 minutes, organizers put an end to the meet-and-greet, leaving a lot of disappointed customers.
When the snaking line of young girls on the stairway were told they were out of luck, they burst into tears and high-pitched screams.
We managed to get to the third floor in time to ask Bieber what he thought of the recent video that Kathy Griffin made in which she proclaims her love for him despite his "lesbian bangs."
"It was really ... I don't know what," Bieber told us, looking genuinely stymied. "I just thought it was really weird."
Weird fun describes the karaoke party that "30 Rock" star Morgan emceed a few blocks away at the Valentino boutique. Although the comic's publicist wasn't allowing him to talk to the media, Morgan was extremely sociable with guests at the private party.
Dressed in jeans and a sweat-drenched white T-shirt, he posed for photos and urged partygoers to karaoke - when he wasn't performing himself.
Morgan joined former Fugee Pras and Natalie Cole to sing "Unforgettable." The trio were then joined by Candice Bergen and her daughter, Vogue editor Chloe Malle, for Aretha Franklin's "Respect."
Ben Stiller and his wife Christine Taylor were also in the house but steered clear of the karaoke performances.
Our favorite part of the night came when Morgan took a crack at U2's "With or Without You." After dedicating the song to "everybody who's going commando tonight," he gave his ear-splitting all to the song. (Imagine a bored cat in heat.)
During the song's most romantic lines, Morgan pointed to an exotic beauty in a black dress who was his date for the night. The woman refused to do photos or divulge her name, but she did reveal one thing about Morgan. "Don't let him fool you," she told us. "He can sing."
