A Florida grandmother tried to sell her baby grandson for $75,000 - but agreed to take less than half that after some haggling, officials said.
Patty Bigbee, 45, was hauled off to jail Friday after handing the 9-week-old infant to a stranger for cash in a parking lot in Daytona Beach.
Bigbee's partner in the cruel game of let's make a deal was her boyfriend, Lawrence Works, 42, cops said. Both were charged with illegal sale or surrender of a child.
Police were tipped off by the prospective buyer, who said the grandmother approached and offered to sell the infant.
Authorities staged a sting operation and arrested the pair once the child was in the back of the buyer's car.
"This transaction was absolutely 'take this baby, give us our money and go,' said Florida law enforcement agent Wayne Ivey.
"Not only were they attempting to go this route with the transaction, but who else would've been willing to buy that child?
"So, we're just really fortunate that the confidential source in this matter came to law enforcement and said, 'We need to take action on this,'".
Bigbee had custody of the child because the baby's mother is in jail on another charge. She and work had bought a need Chevy Malibu and needed money, cops said.
