Sean "Diddy" Combs is expected to dodge all criminal charges in his explosive fight with his son's UCLA football coach.
The rap mogul was arrested in June on suspicion of felony assault with a deadly weapon, battery and making terrorist threats, but the Los Angeles County District Attorney declined to file charges in July and kicked the case down to the Los Angeles City Attorney for a possible misdemeanor prosecution.
Combs recently was granted an office hearing that will seek to resolve the matter without a misdemeanor complaint, City Attorney spokesman Rob Wilcox told the Daily News Wednesday.
Diddy is due to attend the meeting with his high-powered lawyer Mark Geragos on Oct. 15, sources said.
"It's an informal proceeding that will determine if there are alternatives to filing charges - which could include restitution, anger management classes or community service," Wilcox told The News.
"It's like a counseling session," one source said.
Combs, 45, was taken into custody on June 22 at a UCLA sports complex after allegedly losing his cool and swinging a kettlebell during a fight with strength and conditioning coach Sal Alosi, Alosi, who previously worked for the New York Jets, had ejected Combs' son from a morning practice, and Combs went to his office to discuss the matter, sources previously told The News.
Combs' camp later described his actions as "solely defensive in nature to protect himself and his son."
Alosi, meanwhile, lost his job with the Jets after tripping Miami Dolphins defensive back Nolan Carroll on a punt return in December 2010.
A former Hofstra linebacker, Alosi was fined $25,000 and suspended indefinitely for allegedly leaning into Carroll with his knee and organizing inactive players to create a human wall on the Jets' sidelines.
The NFL fined the team $100,000 for what became known as TripGate.
Everybody was like …. Hey!! ….. I know that guy …… He's dirty …… Get'em Diddy …….
