Shaquille O'Neal has traded lay ups for loungewear.
The former center for the Los Angeles Lakers has launched a line of fashion menswear with Macy's, the store announced Tuesday.
The Shaquille O'Neal collection will be available at 100 Macy's stores nationwide and online starting mid-February.
O'Neal, a supersized former basketball star who stands 7-foot-1 and weighs 325 pounds, has designed the moderately priced collection for other outsized men.
The fast-moving center — famous for his "Shaq attacks" on opposing teams during his 19 years in the NBA — said he wants his collection to allow a 60XL guy to look as dapper as a 40 regular friend.
While some of the pieces will be traditional solids, O'Neal's brought his power in the paint to his prints.
They will even be some sharkskin shades in black, navy, tan and grey.
Prices range from $150 to $400 for a jacket.
O'Neal said his desire to create his own line of clothing grew out of his frustration in finding fashionable garb in big sizes.
"I originally wanted to develop a more fashion-forward menswear collection at an affordable price. Once Peerless and I developed the collection, the reaction from Macy's was so positive that we decided to make the collection in all sizes," he said.
Shaq will wear his new collection on TNT's "Inside the NBA" and on future television appearances.
"Shaquille O'Neal is one of the most iconic athletes of our time, and we are thrilled that he chose Macy's to launch this extension of his superstar talent into the world of tailored clothing," said Richard Arnstein, Macy's executive vice president.
