IN THE STREETS & ON THE WEB

Waiting to see if his cameo made the cut in the upcoming “Entourage” movie has rapper Saigon contemplating a show about his own posse, which he’s scaled back considerably since rising to fame in 2005 on the HBO series.

“Rappers end up (broke), like MC Hammer,” the Brooklyn native laughed. “They think they need 35-40 guys around them. Most of these guys do nothing and you have to accommodate them, pay for their hotels and everything. It gets expensive.”

The “Greatest Story Never Told” rapper, born Brian Carenard, says his inner circle now consists of “maybe” a half-dozen friends and far fewer superfluous expenditures.

Saigon, 37, recalls an incident in 2006 when he was leaving a Chelsea diner with his pals and a street thug smashed him in the head with a wine bottle after Saigon refused to give up his gold necklace.

“My mentality at the time, being materialistic, I didn’t want to give up the chain,” he laughed.

It gets worse.

“The crazy thing is that I was trying to hail a cab (to get to the hospital) and I had a Mercedes right there!” he laughed. “I didn’t want to get blood in my new Mercedes. It’s hard enough getting a cab in New York City as a black man — imagine when you have blood coming out of your head!”

While an HBO drama about Saigon’s entourage might work, he says a reality show about his crew is a tough sell.

“I hang out in a lot of places where they don’t appreciate cameras,” he said.

Saigon says he still discusses new ideas with “Entourage” creator Doug Ellin, including a reality show that would focus on his efforts to raise his three kids — ages 3 to 6 — despite having three different moms in three different states.

“We as black men have a notorious stereotype for being absentee fathers,” he said. “All you have to do is look at social networks on Father’s Day. White kids are all, ‘I love you dad, my dad was the greatest inspiration in my life,” Saigon said. “My black friends are all ‘f--- you, mother f---er.’ ”

Saigon’s other projects include a hip-hop website and a new app called Spit 16 that allows rappers to create and circulate videos. He’s also recorded new music for the “Entourage” movie, which he hopes will be used when the flick hits theaters this summer.

“I shot a lot of scenes, but it’s like the show,” he said. “They’ve been so secretive. I don’t even want to call Doug (Ellin) and ask.”
