Russell Simmons Sued For Allegedly Raping Woman In 2016

Russell Simmons has been accused of rape by a woman who claims she bonded with the Def Jam founder over their love of “meditation, yoga and a vegan diet.”

Jennifer Jarosik, 37, filed a lawsuit against Simmons Wednesday in which she accused him of raping her in August 2016.

Jarosik claimed in the filing that she met Simmons in 2006 in New York and that he agreed to be interviewed for her documentary about female empowerment, which he also offered to co-produce and finance.

In August 2016, Jarosik claims Simmons invited her to his Los Angeles home, where he asked her to have sex. She allegedly declined.

“Mr. Simmons got aggressive and pushed (Jarosik) on his bed,” the lawsuit claims.

She claims she tried to force him to “stay away from her” and he retaliated by knocked her off the bed, at which point she allegedly hit her head.

Simmons then “pounced on her while she was still in shock and fear, and proceeded to rape her,” according to the lawsuit.

Jarosik claims that she told just a few people, but didn’t confront the hip-hop mogul until she heard similar stories from other women, including some who were 18 at the time of the alleged assault.

“So basically he treats animals better than women. The hypocrisy has to stop now.”

Jarosik is suing for $5 million in damages, which Wander estimated at 1% of his net worth.

Her lawsuit also accuses Simmons of perpetuating the “sexual exploitation of women (that) is pervasive in the hip hop and music industry culture,” as well as the “deep-rooted history of misogyny and discrimination against women.”

“This is the eighth brave woman that has stepped forward to make her story of sexual assault and exploitation known,” Wander told The News.

“This is a pattern of conduct that can be introduced in court.”

At least a dozen women have accused Simmons of rape or sexual assault, including two who came forward in December.

NYPD is investigating several allegations against him.

Simmons has repeatedly denied the accusations against him, claiming he’s dedicating himself to spiritual learning and healing.
