A Chinese bank teller has become an online sensation after she was caught on camera laughing at a dangerous armed robber.

While most workers would scream out in terror at having a 7-inch cleaver shoved in their face, this woman couldn't help but break out into a broad grin.

The dramatic, and ultimately humorous, incident occurred at a China Construction Bank branch in Zhoujiazui Sunday.

Surveillance footage shows the would-be bandit walking up to the counter, where the teller is serving another woman.

Speaking on a cell phone, he holds the cleaver up to the dividing glass.

The other customer quickly leaves, with the teller looking confused - and then smiling - as she turns to speak to a superior.

Meanwhile, security guards approach the man - believed to be mentally ill and who, despite wielding the blade, was not acting in a particularly threatening manner - and haul him to the ground.

The video was uploaded to LiveLeak shortly afterwards and it's since been viewed almost 50,000 times.
