Rihanna Named The New Spokesperson For MAC's Global AIDS & HIV Campaign

The Barbadian singer has been revealed as the new spokesperson for MAC's global AIDS and HIV campaign.

"Welcome to #VIVAGLAM ... @Rihanna! Arriving January 2014" announced MAC via Twitter on Friday, confirming that 25-year-old R'n'B star Rihanna will be fronting next year's Viva Glam charity lipstick, taking over duties from Nicki Minaj.

The singer was also every excited, tweeting another message promoting the link-up: "Mama, Ima #VIVAGLAM girl!!!! Super thrilled to be teaming up with @MACcosmetics for charity! #VIVAGLAM more lipstick, more lives impacted!"

MAC set up its AIDS fund in 1994, creating its first Viva Glam lipstick the same year to raise money and awareness to fight the disease. Back in 2000 rapper Lil' Kim and R'n'B singer Mary J. Blige were named as the spokespeople for the Viva Glam project. Since then numerous celebrities including Christina Aguilera, Pamela Anderson, Ricky Martin, and Linda Evangelista have all fronted the campaign.

MAC and Rihanna have previously worked together on a series of color capsule collections.
