Sultry songstress Rihanna planted a kiss on ex-boyfriend Chris Brown at Thursday night’s Video Music Awards, shocking fans and audience members.
The pair embraced and went in for a quick lip smack as Rihanna, 24, left the stage at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, after accepting the award for Video of the Year for her song “We Found Love.”

Footage verifying the lip lock prompted speculation there is truth to rumors about the couple’s rekindled romance, despite Brown’s relationship with model Karreuche Tran.

Rihanna called Brown, 23, “the love of her life” in an emotional interview with Oprah Winfrey revealed last month.

“We love each other and we probably always will, and that’s not anything that we’re going to try to change,” she said.

The couple split in 2009 after Brown famously assaulted the Barbadian bombshell, leaving her black and blue and with a split lip in graphic photos that leaked online.

The singers have maintained a friendship since the breakup, even collaborating on two tracks this year.

Rihanna’s surprise kiss wasn’t the only shock fans got Thursday night — the singer also debuted a new pixie haircut.
