RAY J'S "I HIT IT FIRST" EARNS TOP POSITION ON TOP 10 MOST POPULAR R&B SINGLES

It may be for the comedy or shock value, but either way Ray J has regained people’s attention with the release of “I Hit First.” The record, aimed at Kim Kardashian, never mentions her by name, but the sex tape that gained her notoriety six years ago is the basis for the single. The last time Ray J was buzzing for his music skills was several years ago for the club record “Sexy Can I.” With the upcoming release of Raydiation 2, Ray J will have to prove whether he just wants to grab media attention or be defined as an artist.

DJ Soulchild helped Chris Brown secure the second slot on the Most Popular R&B Singles of the week. Fine China, already in route to be a pop success, was given a classic facelift. He stripped away the beat then blended the Gap Band’s “Outstanding” instrumental under Brown’s vocals. The Swiss R&B DJ specialist created a record for all age groups.

After assisting Beyonce make ladies Bow Down, The Dream’s focus is on himself. On the 90s flavored “IV Play,” The Dream's straight forward lyrics leave no room for guesting games. He chants, "I can give a f**k about the foreplay, I want it now / I'm talking straight sex, stop f**king around." People must like his direct approach as he clutched the third spot on Most Popular R&B Singles of the week.
