In the wake of his wife allegedly holding a gun to his head last month after she found him in bed with other women — and his brother Seth — the Ravens may be souring on the Pro Bowl safety. The Baltimore Sun reported the incident could violate his contract that isn’t up until 2022.
The Ravens, a source told the paper, weren’t thrilled with Thomas last year. They felt he freelanced too often, and he struggled with their defensive schemes, creating friction with teammates.
The 31-year-old still had a strong season, reaching his seventh Pro Bowl and started 15 games after injuries had limited him to 29 games the previous three years. He came to the Ravens on a four-year, $55 million deal that included $32 million guaranteed.
Thomas went viral this week after reports leaked of the April 13 event in which his wife, Nina, discovered his infidelities and held a gun to his head before he wrestled it away from her, cops say. When the police arrived, Nina was chasing Earl with a knife and he had the gun at that point.
“It’s really not anybody’s business. It pisses me off that [the story] got out,” the former Seahawk said in a since-deleted Instagram video. “Instead of talking about us, just keep us in y’all prayers.”
According to a Ravens spokesperson, the team was unaware of what happened until seeing the reports.
