Rapper Kodak Black Accused Of Sexual Battery At South Carolina Hotel

Incarcerated hip-hop artist Kodak Black has been accused of sexual battery stemming from an alleged incident at a South Carolina hotel earlier this year, authorities said.

The 19-year-old rapper was set to be released from prison last week after his April arrest for a slew of other charges, but those plans changed after authorities discovered a pair of outstanding warrants for his arrest.

Among them was a felony charge for criminal sexual conduct in Florence, South Carolina, surrounding an alleged February incident involving Black, whose real name is Dieuson Octave, authorities told the Daily News.

"According to investigators, on or about February 7, 2016 Octave is alleged to have engaged in the sexual battery of the victim at a hotel located at 2120 West Lucas Street," Major Michael M. Nunn of the Florence County Sheriff's Office told The News in an email.

The email offers a little clarity into why the rapper was kept in prison last week, but few other details were released.

Black was locked up four months ago on charges that include robbery, drug and firearm possession and false imprisonment.

He faced a maximum sentence of 55 years in prison, but a judge approved a plea deal on Aug. 16 that would have allowed him to leave jail and serve a year of house arrest, followed by five years' probation.

Less than a day later, however, the warrants for his arrest were discovered.

"During the release process, we found two active warrants for Mr. Octave," a rep for the Broward Sheriff's office told Billboard. "He is currently still in the custody of the Broward Sheriff's Office."

Black, widely considered a budding star in the hip-hop industry, is signed by Atlantic Records.
