R. Kelly believes he can fly — on a private jet to Dubai.
The embattled R&B singer wants a judge to grant him permission to fly on a private aircraft to the city in the United Arab Emirates to perform previously scheduled concerts, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.
His lawyer Steve Greenberg said he will file a motion to travel during Kelly’s planned hearing Friday in a Chicago criminal court.
Kelly faces 10 counts of criminal sex abuse in Cook County for allegedly abusing four young women, three of whom were underage at the time.
He has pleaded not guilty and surrendered his passport.
“He needs to be able to work like anyone else who is free on bond, and the law needs to be adaptable,” Greenberg told the newspaper, adding that he would be willing to travel with Kelly to act as a “chaperone.”
The five shows in Dubai are planned to take place from April 17 to 19.
“If you can’t play a show, If you can’t go out on tour, they’re not streaming your music anymore, obviously you’re going to have financial problems,” Greenberg told ABC News.
Kelly is out of work after he was dropped by his Sony Music in January, following the debut of the blistering “Surviving R. Kelly” docuseries in which several women accused him of sexual assault.
After Kelly was arrested in February, a woman who said she was a friend posted $100,000 to free him on bond.
He landed in the slammer again over $160,000 in back child support — until an anonymous friend forked over the money to secure his release again.
Last month, a concert promoter in Germany canceled his gig that was due to be held in Neu-Ulm on April 12.
