Ex-Fugees member Prakazrel “Pras” Michel could be hauled into jail if he doesn’t show up to a child support hearing next month.
Michel’s ex Angela Severiano is seeking at least $120,000 in unpaid child support for their son, Landon, but Michel was a no-show to the first hearing in that case Monday.
“He should have appeared in court,” Manhattan Family Court Support Magistrate Tionnei Clarke said as she issued a bench warrant against him, which she “stayed” until Dec. 20.
If Michel misses his upcoming Dec. 20 court date, he could be arrested under the warrant.
The “Ghetto Superstar” rapper’s rep, Darrell Johnson, said Monday that his client “had a family issue.”
“He wanted to be there but he couldn’t be there … He will be at the next court appearance,” Johnson said. “My client is not doing any leisure trips. He had family issues. He is trying to get his life together.”
Michel has a history of not showing up to court.
He missed a hearing last week in his own case seeking to have his $4,800 monthly child support payments lowered, and he phoned into another hearing for that case back in April.
Michel also skipped a child custody hearing in 2014 while he was in South America for the World Cup. A judge at the time blocked him from calling the court from a Bogota, Colombia, coffee shop.
Michel “declares his innocence” and has “worked out some payment arrangements,” Johnson said, adding he plans to cut Severiano a check before the next hearing.
