Post Malone is going in circles over “Circles.”

Post, born Austin Post, filed a lawsuit against Tyler Armes, disputing Armes’ claims that he co-wrote the hit track with the singer, according to court documents obtained by Page Six.

“Armes is falsely claiming that he is a co-author of the musical composition contained in the ‘Circles’ track,” Post claimed. “Based upon that false claim, Armes is demanding a share of the profits earned by the Circles Composition. Armes’s claim and demand are utterly baseless. Armes did not write or author any portion of the Circles Composition, and he is not entitled to any of the revenue from the Circles Composition.”

Post, 24, recognized that Armes was present for the August 8, 2018 recording session that resulted in “Circles,” but claimed that he did not contribute to the song.

“Following the August 8, 2018 Session, Post Malone, Dukes, and three other songwriters — Billy Walsh, Kaan Gunesberk, and Louis Bell—continued to work on writing the Circles Composition during subsequent sessions,” he argued. “Armes did not participate in, and was not even present for, any of the sessions for the Circles Composition which followed the August 8, 2018 Session.”

The singer alleged that he was forced to file the suit because Armes “threatened to take action against Post Malone’s record label,” which would interfere with his business dealings.

The rapper doesn’t seem too bothered though, as he is in the midst of planning an epic virtual beer pong tournament with his friends. The entry fee for the competition will be donated to charities supporting the fight against coronavirus.
