A few weeks ago, reggae and dancehall artist Mr. Vegas blasted Drake in a self-recorded video clip, claiming that Drake was using and abusing dancehall artists and the dancehall sound, and accusing Drake of stealing reggae culture without properly crediting it. Vegas made reference to the fact that Drake’s most recent album, Views, is “40 to 50 percent dancehall”–in reality, it’s about 25%–yet dancehall artist Popcaan, who was originally featured on one of the album’s songs, “Controlla,” was taken off for the final version.
According to this video clip, Popcaan himself doesn’t hold the same grudge. Along with Spice and several other members of his team, MIXPAK, Popcaan clashed with Wiz Khalifa at Red Bull Culture Clash in London, and after playfully yelling “F*ck Wiz Khalifa!”
Popcaan motioned for the DJ to drop the next song, which was an unreleased version of Drake’s “One Dance,” which is currently the #1 song on the Billboard Hot 100, complete with new lyrics.
